Included is original newsreel footage. DVD #1: From Pearl Harbor to Casablanca (1941-1942): On December 7, 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and 4 days later, Germany declared war on the US. America mobilized 15 million men into the armed forces, and women entered the work force in unprecedented numbers. DVD #2: From Tunis to Tokyo (1943-1945): The year 1943 began with Allied armies advancing on all fronts. On the eastern front, Soviet forces celebrated the surrender of the German 6th Army at Stalingrad, and in the Pacific, U.S. Marines secured Guadalcanal. The year 1945 sees Allied troops invading Nazi Germany, Soviet forces captured Berlin, and US Marines landed on Iwo Jima. In August, the US dropped atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
