QB VII (1974)
Polish physician Adam Kelno (Anthony Hopkins) asserted that he used his war-era conscription by the Nazis to mitigate the horrors of a concentration camp. Jewish-American journalist Abe Cady (Ben Gazzara) contended that the doctor collaborated in thousands of medical experiments. Their clash in a defamation action before the British bench forms the basis of this acclaimed mini-series adaptation of the Leon Uris novel; Leslie Caron, Lee Remick, Juliet Mills co-star. 5 hrs. C/Rtg: NR
The Lindbergh Kidnapping Case (1976)
In 1932, the abduction and murder of the infant son of aviator Charles Lindbergh (Cliff De Young) stunned a nation, and the prosecution of Bruno Hauptmann (Anthony Hopkins) for the crime remained controversial for years after. Was the uneducated laborer responsible, or was he set up? Memorable made-for-TV reconstruction co-stars Martin Balsam, Walter Pidgeon, Denise Alexander, Sian Barbara Allen. 146 min. C/Rtg: NR
The Hunchback Of Notre Dame (1982)
Anthony Hopkins shines in the title role of Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer of Notre Dame Cathedral, in this stirring adaptation of Victor Hugo’s 1831 Gothic novel. Leslie-Anne Down co-stars as Esmerelda, the beautiful Gypsy whom Quasimodo is first tasked with kidnapping for the wicked archdeacon Claude Frollo, but who becomes the object of affection of the soft-hearted hunchback. All-star ensemble cast also includes Derek Jacobi, David Suchet, Tim Pigott-Smith, Gerry Sundquist, Robert Powell, Nigel Hawthorne, and John Gielgud. 102 min. C/Rtg: NR
