In 1920s Pennsylvania Dutch country, troubled and suggestible teenager Billy Kelly (Chad Lowe) was ripe for influencing by charismatic "powwow" faith healer John Reese (Donald Sutherland), who’d decided to mentor the boy in his craft. However, the unhinged Reese’s conviction that a harmless local hermit (Knut Husebø) was doing Satan’s work would ultimately result in tragedy.
