With their act going nowhere, struggling vaudevillians Joe and June Tyme (Jack Carson, Ann Sothern) take the chance when their young son (Robert Ellis) gives up school to join in. The kid's talent begins to carry them up the ladder, but rivals, zealous child-labor enforcers, and Joe's own bottle-fueled jealousies might divide the team--and the family--for good.
