Once a well-to-do playboy, Los Angeles janitor Jay Wheeler (Scott Speedman) continues to see bad times ahead after an arrest for assault and a gambling debt soon coming due to his criminal bankers. With his parents believing he is bringing a girlfriend to his brother's wedding in New Orleans, Jay decides to take Daisy (Evan Rachel Wood), a patient at the mental hospital where he works─their unstable lives soon creating a surprisingly real bond between them.
