In this episode Mark Miller is called in to help re-float a beached grey whale. The young whale the size of a school bus was stranded by a low tide after being chased onto a shallow beach by hungry killer whales. A team from the Vancouver aquarium which includes Mark is called to save the whale. In the past six years this group has tried to save a half dozen whales. All but two have survived. But this whale is in big trouble... bigger than anything we have ever seen before. It has picked the hottest day of the year to get stranded. Not only is it high and dry hot and lost it may also be sick. Dave takes blood and realizes if the results come back showing the whale is very sick it wouldn't be humane to re-float the suffering creature. Dave realizes he may have to put the great whale down; it is an awful realization. In the business of saving whales there are tough choices to be made... it's not always easy staying Xtremely Wild.
