Korean war vet Gregory Fitzgerald (Steve Forrest), enjoying a final night in Paris before entering the seminary, has a fateful encounter with torch singer Monica Johnson (Anne Baxter) who’s running for her life after gunning down her mob-connected ex. Fitzgerald makes it his mission to help her flee the country, and finds his attraction to her raising nagging doubts about his life’s course.
