B cowpoke Wild Bill Elliott wound down his film career portraying LAPD Lt. Andy Doyle in this series of second-bill suspensers from Allied Artists. An escaped institutionalized veteran looks like the likely suspect when his ex-wife is found dead, but Andy has other ideas, in "Dial Red '0'" (1955). Paul Picerni, Jack Kruschen also star. Doyle thinks a sportswear maker's ruled suicide is anything but, and his suspicion falls upon the victim's blind son (Tom Drake), in "Sudden Danger" (1955). Beverly Garland co-stars. Doyle hunts for a serial killer who dispatches his victims via car bomb in "Calling Homicide" (1956). Don Haggerty, Jeanne Cooper co-star. Andy tries to clear an amnesiac parolee (Jimmy Lydon) made the fall guy for a businessman's murder in "Chain of Evidence" (1957). Haggerty, Timothy Carey co-star. Did a recovering gambling addict (Douglas Dick) kill the man who knocked him off the wagon? Doyle has his doubts! "Footsteps in the Night" (1957) co-stars Haggerty, Minerva Urecal. 5 1/4 hrs. total on two discs. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
