Adapted from Thomas Burke's (offensively titled) short story, D.W. Griffith's poetic silent drama involves a young girl who leaves her abusive boxer father and finds friendship with a Chinese shopkeeper in London's Limehouse district. When the pugilist discovers his daughter has been keeping company with a foreigner, tragedy ensues. Lillian Gish, Richard Barthelmess star. Color tinted. 90 min. Standard; Soundtrack: music score.
