Metropolis (The Complete Metropolis) (2010 Restored)
(1927)
Unseen since the film’s first release, 25 minutes of long-thought-lost footage found in Argentina was restored and added to director Fritz Lang’s silent science-fiction masterwork. In a towering city of the future, the populace is divided between an idle ruling class and the dehumanized workers who toil deep below the surface. The milestone German expressionist drama stars Alfred Abel, Gustav Fröhlich, Rudolph Klein-Rogge, and Brigitte Helm as the Maschinenmensch. 153 min. Standard; Soundtrack: Dolby Digital 5.1 music score; "making of" documentary; interview; theatrical trailer. Silent with music score. Two-disc set.
