Tough Chicago reporter Ernie Souchak (John Belushi) winds up in the hospital after being roughed up while investigating a corrupt city official. Sent out of town for his own safety, Ernie travels to the Colorado Rockies to do a story on ornithologist Dr. Nell Porter (Blair Brown). At first at each other's throats, it's not long before sparks are flying between the city boy and the country girl.
