Returning to her homeland in southern Italy after spending a decade in Switzerland, 13-year-old Marta (Yle Vianello) is ushered into the demanding and complex rituals of Roman Catholicism. Rather than fall into following Church doctrine, however, Marta begins to piece together her own distinctive brand of faith out of curiosity and a desire for rebellion.
