This collection of works by art house darling Agnes Varda begins with her feature debut, "La Point-Courte" (1956), where life in a Mediterranean fishing village is juxtaposed with a story of a couple working to save their troubled marriage. Philippe Noiret, Silvia Monfort star. Next, "Cleo from 5 to 7" (1961) follows a singer (Corinne Marchand) who is told by a fortune teller she has cancer and must anxiously await medical test results. Pastoral imagery and a lush Mozart score offset the harsh reality of Varda's controversial "Le Bonheur" (1965), in which a young carpenter loves his wife but decides to take a mistress. Jean-Claude Drouot, Marie-France Boyer star. star. And a willful young wanderer (Sandrine Bonnaire) is remembered through conflicting stories by the people whose lives she drifted in and out of, in "Vagabond" (1985). 5 3/4 hrs. total. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: French Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English; bonus shorts; featurettes; interviews; theatrical trailers. In French with English subtitles. Four-disc set.
