Before passing away in 1984 at the age of 48, Ohio-born Hollis Frampton had evolved from a still photographer and poet into an experimental filmmaker who had a reputation for redefining the nature of movies. This compilation of his 16mm works includes 24 films from 1966-79, such as "Surface Tension" (1968), "Zorns Lemma" (1970), "(nostalgia)" (1971), and his unfinished "Magellan cycle," the project he meant to contain a film for every day of the year. 4 1/3 hrs. total.
