Damnation

The bleak desolation of a Hungarian mining town is made all the more despairing for Karrer (Miklós Székely), whose love for a cabaret singer must go unfulfilled as she is married to a fiercely protective husband. When Karrer is invited to be part of a lucrative smuggling operation, he passes the "opportunity" on to the husband and then attempts to pursue his love during the man’s absence, with tragic consequences.
