Fritz Lang's unusual social drama "You and Me" (1938) stars George Raft as an ex-con who lands a clerking job, then woos and weds fellow employee (and, unknown to him, fellow parolee) Sylvia Sidney. When he learns the truth and that their marriage may be invalidated, he considers returning to crime. Harry Carey, Robert Cummings co-star. While on a layover in Chicago, gambler/ex-con Scott Brady is accused of a mob boss's assassination, and he must stay a step ahead of the cops in an effort to clear his name. William Castle's thriller "Undertow" (1949) co-stars John Russell, Dorothy Hart, Peggy Dow; keep an eye out for Rock Hudson. After buying up a movie lot shuttered since a scandalous silent-era murder happened there, producer Richard Conte decides to mount a film about the crime...and perhaps flush out the never-found killer. Castle's insider noir "Hollywood Story" (1951), inspired by the William Desmond Taylor case, co-stars Julia Adams, Richard Egan, Henry Hull, and many cameos. Two-disc set also includes "Ministry of Fear." 5 1/2 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono; photo gallery; picture gallery; featurette; more.
