It's the year 2046, 15 years after an armistice ended humanity's war with an alien confederation called the Votans. Human survivors and their Votan counterparts struggle to rebuild a ravaged Earth while learning to co-exist. In the city-state of Defiance, former U.S. Marine Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler) accepts the position of Chief Lawkeeper in an effort to help protect what's left of civilization.
