Before becoming an alternative rock icon as the singer of The Smiths, Steven Patrick Morrissey (Jack Lowden) was an introverted young man in Manchester, England, in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. Morrissey toils in a dead-end office job and wallows in loneliness until he’s encouraged by friend and local artist Linder Sterling (Jessica Brown Findlay) to pursue his musical passions.
