In May 1996, veteran mountaineer Rob Hall (Jason Clarke) was engaged to lead a party of clients on an expedition up the South Face of Mount Everest to the summit. Delays in the ascent left the climbers in the path of a blizzard, and precipitated a tragedy that four of their number would not return from.
