In the style of '50s filmmaker Douglas Sirk ("Magnificent Obsession") comes Todd Haynes' melodrama set in suburban Connecticut in 1957. When Cathy befriends African-American gardener Raymond (Dennis Haysbert), she faces new problems from racist neighbors. With Patricia Clarkson, Viola Davis. 108 min.
