Murder, He Says (1945)
Pollster Pete Marshall (Fred MacMurray) is stranded in the Ozarks and up to his ears in homicidal hillbillies, hidden loot, and mayhem in this delightfully daffy dark comedy. Marjorie Main co-stars as Mamie Fleagle Smithers Johnson, head of the sinister Fleagle clan; with Helen Walker, Porter Hall, and Peter Whitney as Mamie’s twin sons Mert and Bert (the latter of whom has "a krick in his back"); directed by George Marshall. 91 min. BW/Rtg: NR
Feudin’, Fussin’ And A-Fightin’ (1948)
Between "The Egg and I" and the Ma and Pa Kettle films, Main and Percy Kilbride starred in this backwoods musical/comedy based on a magazine article by screenwriter D.D. Beauchamp. Donald O'Connor is travelling salesman Wilbur McMurtry, who’s coerced into representing the tiny town of Rimrock in its annual footrace against a rival burg. Penny Edwards, Joe Besser co-star; directed by George Sherman. 118 min BW/Rtg: NR
Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
