After a stroke suffered while trying to halt a robbery leaves him partially paralyzed, a New York security guard (Robert De Niro) gets speech therapy through singing lessons from an unlikely teacher: his upstairs neighbor, a brash drag queen (Philip Seymour Hoffman).
