The Fly (1958)
In this sci-fi/horror classic, David Hedison is André Delambre, a scientist whose matter-transfer machine backfires, resulting in the perverse fusion of man and fly. Desperate to reverse the experiment that has placed a humongous insect noggin on his human frame, the man-fly seeks the assistance of his wife (Patricia Owens) and his brother (Vincent Price) in capturing the elusive bug now cursed with a tiny André head. With Herbert Marshall. 94 min. C/Rtg: NR
The Return Of The Fly (1959)
"Like father, like son" holds true in this scary sci-fi sequel, as doctor’s son Philippe Delambre (Brett Halsey) tries to reproduce his late father's transporter experiments, only to tangle with an industrial spy-cum-(literal) guinea pig (David Frankham). When Philippe enters the machine with another fly (nobody had a Shell No-Pest Strip back then?), Uncle Francois (Vincent Price) accidentally turns his nephew into "PhilippeFly," the world's largest household pest. With Danielle De Metz. 80 min. BW/Rtg: NR
Curse Of The Fly (1965)
The curse of the fly lives on, this time affecting another of the original scientist's sons, Martin Delambre (George Baker), who wants to continue dad's work on teleportation. But Martin’s plans are thwarted by his mentally unstable bride (Carole Gray), who discovers a lab filled with the mangled test subjects of failed experiments. Brian Donlevy, Burt Kwouk co-star in this series installment from the U.K. 86 min. BW/Rtg: NR
The Fly (1986)
Be afraid. Be very afraid. Gruesome effects and dark humor highlight director David Cronenberg's modern horror classic, based on the same short story that inspired the '50s sci-fi fave. Jeff Goldblum stars--in the role he was born to play--as Seth Brundle, a scientist whose teleportation experiment results in him being genetically merged with a fly, slowly turning him into a half-human, half-insect creature. Geena Davis, John Getz co-star. 95 min. C/Rtg: R
The Fly II (1989)
Continuation of the updated atom-switching film series stars Eric Stoltz as Martin Brundle, the mutant son of the original "Brundlefly," held prisoner by a sinister business cabal after the secret he carries within his DNA...a secret that begins to mutate him as it did his father. With Daphne Zuniga, Lee Richardson, John Getz. 104 min. C/Rtg: R
