Deliver to
Honoring a pledge to the best friend he was ordered to slay, San Francisco Tong assassin Edward G. Robinson raises the victim's daughter, and ultimately marries the adult woman (Loretta Young). How will he handle her dalliance with a half-caste gangster? "The Hatchet Man" (1932) co-stars Leslie Fenton. Calculating financier Warren William cooks the books to swing his desired acquisition of a 100-story office building, with tragic consequences for all in his orbit, in the steamy potboiler "Skyscraper Souls" (1932). Maureen O'Sullivan, Verree Teasdale, Hedda Hopper co-star. A swanky department store is the setting for the glossy, risqué melodrama "Employees' Entrance" (1933), with William as the store's tyrannical manager and Young as the salesgirl who becomes the unwilling recipient of his attentions. Wallace Ford, Alice White co-star. Ad copywriter Gene Raymond wants to marry modern-minded draftswoman Bette Davis, who'd rather live together. Though finally becoming partners in business and life, jealously comes to threaten their bond. "Ex-Lady" (1933) co-stars Frank McHugh. 5 1/4 hrs. total on four discs. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
