First, small-town rube Snub Pollard becomes an unlikely cowboy film star in the Hal Roach short "Before the Public" (1923), directed by Charley Chase. The mustached mirth-maker then hatches a scheme to win a $1,000 baby contest prize in "No Kidding" (1928). Next, slapstick sad sack Bobby Vernon is a cowpoke visiting a wealthy family in "Hold 'Er Cowboy" (1928), and winds up behind bars in "Turn Him Loose" (1929). 71 min. total.
