In early 20th century Argentina, rich landowner Julio Madariaga (Pomeroy Cannon) was indulgent of his hard-partying half-French grandson Julio Desnoyers (Rudolph Valentino), and less so of Julio's half-German cousins. The resentments would come to a tragic boil with the onset of WWI, as each familial camp rallied to its country's' cause.
