Joan Peers inherits her late father's failing circus, and manager Joe Cook has an unending stream of schemes to keep the show afloat, in "Rain or Shine" (1930). Louise Fazenda co-stars. "Forbidden" (1932) finds librarian Stanwyck falling into a shipboard romance with married, rising politician Adolphe Menjou, only to be squeezed for her secrets by muckraker Ralph Bellamy.
