In early-'70s Los Angeles, club dancer Frankie Murdoch (Halle Berry) began to be plagued by inexplicable blackouts. After she started exhibiting multiple personalities─including that of a 7-year-old child and a racist Southern white woman─she came under the care of a compassionate therapist (Stellan Skarsgård), who strived to uncover Frankie's past and the causes for her behavior within.
