Thirty years after New York firefighter Frank Sullivan (Dennis Quaid) is killed in a warehouse blaze, his now-grown son, policeman Johnny (Jim Caviezel), discovers his old ham radio and miraculously contacts his pop. Over the air and across time, the men form a close relationship they never had and attempt to alter past events, but in doing so place their future and their loved ones in danger.
