Gung Ho (1986)
After his small-town auto plant shuttered, shop steward Hunt Stevenson (Michael Keaton) flew East, turned on the charm, and successfully lobbied a Japanese carmaker to re-open for business. His heroic status amongst his co-workers would prove short-lived, however, as the factory crew would have a calamitous culture clash with the new bosses’ expectations about their work ethic. Ron Howard’s hit comedy also stars Gedde Watanabe, George Wendt, Mimi Rogers, John Turturro, Sab Shimono. 112 min. C/Rtg: PG-13
Crazy People (1990)
After he crafts a series of bluntly cynical campaigns about his clients’ products, depressed adman Emory Leeson (Dudley Moore) finds himself involuntarily committed to a mental hospital by his colleagues. However, once his toxic work mistakenly reaches the public--and proves hugely successful--Emory turns to his new sanitarium pals to keep up with the agency’s mounting demands. Trenchant satire co-stars Daryl Hannah, Paul Reiser, J.T. Walsh, Mercedes Ruehl. 91 min. C/Rtg: R
Brain Donors (1992)
When a wealthy widow (Nancy Marchand) wanted to fulfill her husband’s dream of founding a ballet company, she turned to fast-talking shyster Roland T. Flakfizer (John Turturro). If he, and hastily recruited oddball assistants Jacques (Bob Nelson) and Rocco (Mel Smith), fall on their faces, will her other handlers--with their own designs on the cash--swoop in? Nutty Marx Brothers homage from David and Jerry Zucker co-stars George De La Pena, Teri Copley, Juliana Donald. 79 min. C/Rtg: PG
Pootie Tang (2001)
He doesn’t speak English. He doesn’t even speak Ebonics. In fact, no one knows what he’s speaking, but Pootie Tang (Lance Crouther), the unintelligible character from "The Chris Rock Show," is the baddest and smoothest crime fighter in the inner city. Armed with his father’s trusty belt, he must take down the evil CEO of a corporation trying to corrupt kids. Robert Vaughn and Rock co-star. 81 min. C/Rtg: PG-13
Widescreen; Soundtrack: English.
