Fury (2014)
It’s April 1945, and Allied forces are preparing to make their final charge into the heart of Nazi Germany. Led by a grizzled staff sergeant (Brad Pitt) and saddled with a green recruit (Logan Lerman), the close-knit crew of a U.S. Army Sherman tank dubbed "Fury" finds themselves deep in enemy territory. Hopelessly outnumbered, can they hold the line as the German infantry fast approaches? Shia LaBeouf, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal also star in this intense WWII drama. 135 min. C/Rtg: R
Black Hawk Down (2001)
Director Ridley Scott’s gut-wrenching military drama chronicles the doomed 1993 mission of U.S. forces in the war-torn Somali capital of Mogadishu, sent to apprehend top aides of a rebel warlord. When two Black Hawk helicopters are shot down, with the surviving soldiers trapped and outnumbered in the city streets, a desperate rescue mission is launched. Eric Bana, Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor, Sam Shepard, and Tom Sizemore star. 144 min. C/Rtg: R
Zero Dark Thirty (2012)
Kathryn Bigelow’s harrowing, lightning-rod procedural of the American intelligence community’s decade-long manhunt for Osama Bin Laden is presented from the perspective of a young CIA operative (Jessica Chastain), from an unflinching look at the gathering of intel through torture to the successful assault of Seal Team Six upon the Abbottabad compound. Stark, compelling tale co-stars Jason Clarke, Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Ehle, and James Gandolfini. 157 min. C/Rtg: R
