First, a rancher's daughter is injured by some crooks' shenanigans and needs an operation, so it's up to Gene Autry, sidekick Smiley Burnette, and their pals to put on a fund-raising show (broadcast on TV!), and then bring the black hats to justice. Lois Wilde and Lon Chaney, Jr. co-star in "The Singing Cowboy" (1936). Next, Autry is an expert with both "Guns and Guitars" (1936), and he shows off his skills in this frontier drama, playing a medicine show musician who comes to the aid of a town under attack by crooked cattlemen. With Dorothy Dix, Tom London, and Burnette. Then, Autry and Burnette bring a herd of horses to the diamond fields of South Africa, and Gene is framed on a charge of smuggling. Can he escape the natives' clutches and clear his name before it's "Round-Up Time in Texas" (1937)? Unusual mix of songs and jungle action co-stars Maxine Doyle, LeRoy Mason. Finally, good guy gunslinger Autry and sidekick Burnette find themselves in the middle of a range war when they take the side of sheep herders moving into cattle territory. "Springtime in the Rockies" (1937) co-stars Polly Rowles, Edward Hearn. 6 2/3 hrs. total on two discs. Standard; Soundtrack: English.
