In early 20th-century London, temperamental composer George Harvey Bone (Laird Cregar) was prone to sudden blackouts...and frightened that he may have been responsible for a notorious slaying that occurred during one of his fugues. While a sympathetic police psychiatrist (George Sanders) sought to allay Bone’s fears, a manipulative chanteuse (Linda Darnell) who’d exploited his talents manages to drive the killer within to the surface.
