Wolfen (1981)
When a New York real-estate tycoon and his wife are found slashed to death in a park--not by any metal weapon, or perhaps any human wielder--a veteran homicide detective (Albert Finney) is tasked with finding the answers. The trail leads to similar slayings...as well as a group of Native American laborers with an uncanny bond to a very territorial wolf pack. Stylish scarefest co-stars Gregory Hines, Diane Venora, Edward James Olmos. 114 min. C/Rtg: R
The Hunger (1983)
Noted anti-aging medical specialist Sarah Roberts (Susan Sarandon) found herself with desperate new clients in the stylish couple Miriam and John Blaylock (Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie), as John deteriorated before her eyes. It’ll be far too late when she learns that the Blaylocks are centuries-old vampires...and that Miriam’s looking for a new companion through the millennia. Tony Scott’s stylish and searingly erotic chiller co-stars Cliff De Young, Dan Hedaya. 96 min. C/Rtg: R
Innocent Blood (1992)
The notion of a bloody gangland turf war in Pittsburgh didn’t scare gorgeous vampire Marie (Anne Parillaud), who welcomed the carnage as cover for her feeding habits. However, she didn’t count on falling for the case’s lead cop (Anthony LaPaglia)...and she now must help him stop the mob boss (Robert Loggia) she put the bite on from turning his goodfellas into an undead army. John Landis’ erotic horror-comedy co-stars Chazz Palminteri, Angela Bassett, Don Rickles, Tony Sirico. 112 min. C/Rtg: R
Body Snatchers (1993)
Rebel director Abel Ferrara’s atmospheric take on the classic sci-fi story is set on a Southern military base where a teenage girl awakes to find that alien pods are systematically taking over the people around her, draining their personalities and turning them into inhuman monsters. Gabrielle Anwar, Meg Tilly, Forest Whitaker and Terry Kinney star. 87 min. C/Rtg: R
