To escape war-torn Poland, former concentration camp inmate Viktoria Kowelska (Valentina Cortese) adopts the identity of a dead fellow prisoner who has a son living with a wealthy aunt in San Francisco. Viktoria moves into the family's mansion, and, after the old woman dies, inherits her fortune. Unknown to her, however, Viktoria's disguise and wealth have put both her and her "son's" lives in mortal danger. Director Robert Wise's noir drama also stars Richard Basehart, Fay Baker. 93 min.
