Times are easy in the idyllic town of Norwalk, but none take it as easy as the town layabout Bim! Bim, who the elders call a bum and the youths idolize, makes fast friends with the young vagabond, Bill, who comes into town. And soon he is taking charge of the young boy, even agreeing with the charming schoolteacher Mary Bruce that the youngster needs an education. He tries to do right by the boy and when young Bill becomes sick and Mary has her own troubles only this big-hearted bum can be counted on to put things right!
