On her deathbed, geneticist Amanda Hollins (Kim Hunter) pleaded with her son John (David Allen Brooks) to go to her lab and destroy every trace of her final project. As he leads a contingent of friends to do so, they discover the horrific nature of what she'd been working on--a gene-spliced, oozing, tentacled monstrosity--as well as the schemes of a depraved colleague (Rod Steiger) determined to set the thing loose.
