Arriving in the French port city of Le Havre with other illegal immigrants from Africa, a young boy (Blondin Miguel) trying to reunite with his mother in London is taken in by an elderly shoeshine man (André Wilms) who rallies his working-class comrades to help the lad avoid the authorities.
