Laura Fraser is Chaya Silberschmidt, a young, modern Jewish woman in 1972 Antwerp who has forsaken her culture while witnessing her parents' struggle to cope with the horrors of the Holocaust. That is, until she becomes a nanny to a troubled little boy from a strict Hasidic family, and a mutual respect is formed as Chaya gets the boy to open up.
