Loosely based on writer/director Valerie Weiss's own experiences LOSING CONTROL tells the story of Samantha (Miranda Kent) an endearing PhD candidate in Biophysics at Harvard Medical School. Frustrated outside the lab by life's unpredictability, and engaged inside the lab in potentially Nobel Prize winning research, Sam is determined to apply scientific principles to her love life. Unable to give her boyfriend Ben (Reid Scott) a firm yes when he asks her to marry him, Sam sets off on a series of dating adventures (and mishaps) to find empirical proof that Ben is "the One". Samantha ultimately discovers that life is not a controlled experiment and that falling in love is as much about the ride as the destination. LOSING CONTROL is part of the AFI American Film Institute Catalyst Workshop; a U.S. Department of Defense backed program designed to help scientists translate their work into stories for the screen.
