Continuing Stage Door's celebrated 'Lost Broadway' album series is 'Lost Broadway 1960' featuring 2CD with 53 tracks, including over 25 recordings appearing on CD for the very first time. The album includes a complete disc of Original Broadway Cast Recordings and a companion disc of 'Covers and Rarities', showcasing pop covers and other rare recordings from the forgotten and obscure Broadway musicals of 1960. The musicals represented on 'Lost Broadway 1960' are: 'Greenwillow', 'Christine', 'Tenderloin', 'Wildcat', 'Do Re Mi', 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown' and the play with music 'Send Me No Flowers'. Other featured selections include songs from the short lived musical revue 'Vintage '60' (performed by original cast member Fay DeWitt) and the complete studio recording of Bud Freeman and Leon Pober's musical 'Beg, Borrow or Steal' (originally titled 'Clara') starring Betty Garrett. The selections featured include a broad range of musical styles and genres from prolific musical theatre writers including Jule Styne, Adolph Green, Betty Comden, Meredith Willson, Cy Coleman, Frank Loesser, Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. The album boasts a host of star performers including Lucille Ball, Anthony Perkins, Maureen O'Hara, Tammy Grimes, Jack Jones, Rosemary Clooney, Eddie Fisher, Vic Damone, Leslie Uggams, Bobby Darin, Gordon MacRae, Perry Como, Aretha Franklin and many more. Although the shows didn't last, their music lives on and this collection affirms that the 'lost' Broadway musicals featured are well worth rediscovering.
