Ed Asner reprised his role from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" for this hit 1977-82 drama series. After being fired as news producer at the WJM TV station, Lou relocated to California and took a job as city editor at the fictional newspaper The Los Angeles Tribune where he became a mentor to the young reporters on his staff while coming face to face with pressing societal issues. Robert Walden, Mason Adams, Jack Bannon, Linda Kelsey, Daryl Anderson, and Nancy Marchand also starred.
