Classic "three-hanky" melodrama from producer Ross Hunter, starring Rock Hudson as Bob Merrick, a playboy whose drunken ways lead to doctor’s wife Helen Phillips’ (Jane Wyman) losing her husband and her sight. A repentant Merrick becomes a surgeon in order to restore Helen’s vision and falls in love with her, concealing his identity, along the way. With Barbara Rush, Otto Kruger; Douglas Sirk directs.
