First, Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's classic fantasy/romance "A Matter of Life and Death" (1946) stars David Niven as a WWII British pilot who miraculously survives a crash and goes on to fall for American WAC Kim Hunter. When a brain injury suffered in the accident leaves Niven near death, his spirit is summoned before a heavenly court where he pleads to be allowed to return to Earth. With Roger Livesey, Raymond Massey. aka: "Stairway to Heaven." And, Powell directs "Age of Consent" (1969), an engaging adaptation of the semi-autobiographical novel by Norman Lindsay. A burned-out artist (James Mason) travels to Australia where he finds unexpected inspiration in the beautiful form of a sexy young woman (Helen Mirren) who models in the nude for him in order for her to earn enough money to leave home and become a hairdresser.
