Set in Akron, Ohio, in the 1930s, this powerful look at the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous stars James Woods as WWI veteran Bill Wilson, who, as a NYC stockbroker loses everything in the 1929 market collapse and turns to drink. Six years later, hopeless drunk Wilson meets fellow addict, surgeon Robert Smith (James Garner). and helps him to stay sober.
