This long-sought-after Bela Lugosi film is based on a real-life occurrence, and one of the strangest events in ocean-going history. In 1872, the American cargo ship Marie Celeste was discovered at sea off the coast of England with sails half raised, cargo intact and not a soul on board. This tale offers but one explanation for the eerie ghost ship, suggesting that deranged captain Anton Lorenzen (Lugosi) was murdering the sailors one by one, unbeknownst to the rest of the crew. Also released under the title The Mystery of The Marie Celeste, this is a must-see for Lugosi fans.
