The rise and violent reign of ‘80s-era Colombian kingpin Pablo Escobar provided the grist for this compelling, fact-inspired Netflix crime series. As the ambitious smuggler Escobar (Wagner Moura) built up the Medellin Cartel that would ultimately claim 80% of America’s cocaine traffic, DEA agents Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) and Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal) had the seemingly insurmountable task of breaking his operations.
