The relationship between antique store owner Theo (Peter McEnery) and his paramour Vivien (Glenda Jackson) was sustained by a bizarre sex life where he role-played the 1910s wife-killer Dr. Crippen and she, the victim-spouse. The arrangement would get odder yet when he took on German photographer Reingard (Diane Cilento) as an upstairs tenant--and she'd bring her own kinks to the resulting triangle. Peter Medak's offbeat and erotic debut feature co-stars Maurice Denham, Norman Rossington. 98 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack; English; audio commentary; bonus feature "Sparrows Can't Sing" (1963); featurettes.
