Noah's Ark

Director Michael Curtiz's silent melodrama (with some talking sequences) juxtaposes a romantic triangle between an American man, a German woman, and a Russian military officer during World War I against the Old Testament tale of patriarch Noah, his family, and the Great Flood. One of the costliest films made up to that time (in both budget and in lives tragically lost on set during an ambitious underwater sequence) stars, in dual roles, George O'Brien, Dolores Costello, Noah Beery, and Paul McAllister. 100 min.
