In 1943, the team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II broke Broadway ground with this award-winning musical, which received a grand screen adaptation by director Fred Zinnemann. Cowhand Curly (Gordon MacRae) and the beautiful Laurey (Shirley Jones, in her film debut) discover love together in the Oklahoma Territory of 1906.
